Short Course
on
CLEAN ENERGY  AND EFFICIENCY
October 5, 2010 (8:30 am to 5 pm)

 Washington University’s Department of Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering will host a day-long short course on energy and environment as pertains to the building environment

The morning session of the short course will examine current national trends in energy generation and use, and the implications of these trends on the environment; specifically water consumption. consumption.  It will also include local perspectives from representatives from local utilities, such as AmerenUE and City of St. Louis Water.  In the afternoon, participants will learn of various methods for improving energy and water use efficiency, along with some promising renewable energy technologies.  The course will be completed with a tour of Brauer Hall’s sustainable features, including many building energy-savings devices, a rainwater collection system, solar panels and a wind turbine, and an interactive computer that enables the user to observe the building performance in real time.

The course will be held in Brauer Hall, located at the corner of Forest Park Parkway and Skinker.  The building is the newest building constructed on the University’s Danforth campus, and was built to attain LEED Gold certification.  Thus, it is equipped with a number of sustainable energy and environmentally-friendly features.

The short course registration fee is $ 200 per person. 
 Seats are limited, so early registration is encouraged to avoid disappointment.

Participants will be awarded 6.0 PDHs for successful completion for use when renewing license registration.
