The work in energy focuses on three areas.  The energy portfolio is expected to be a "mixed bag" - consisting of renewable sources, bioenergy and fossil fuels.  Fossil fuels are being used extensively and significant research and development will need to be conducted to ensure that they are environmentally benign. A key challenge in development and use of energy sources will be the need to minimize or eliminate the associated carbon footprint.

A group of faculty from partner Universities of the McDonnell Academy have been working together in bilateral and multi-lateral formats on collaborative projects.  The objecives of this group are to promote interactions, discussions and spawning collaborative projects related to Energy related issues.
